Sedation FAQ

Yes — IV sedation is not a general anaesthetic. You remain conscious and can respond to instructions, but you'll be deeply relaxed and largely unaware of what's happening. Most patients have little or no memory of the procedure afterwards.
Yes. At Bespoke Dental Fulham, IV sedation is administered by a qualified Consultant Anaesthetist who monitors you throughout the procedure. Your safety is the priority at every stage.
Sedation is used alongside local anaesthetic, so the treatment area will be numb. The sedation itself ensures you're relaxed and comfortable throughout — most patients feel nothing and remember very little.
The sedative wears off over several hours. You may feel drowsy for the rest of the day, so you'll need a responsible adult to accompany you home and stay with you. You should not drive or operate machinery for 24 hours.
Sedation is suitable for most adults with dental anxiety, a strong gag reflex, or those facing complex or lengthy procedures. We'll assess your suitability during a consultation before proceeding.
You'll need to fast for a minimum of six hours before your appointment — no food or drink (other than small sips of water). We'll give you full pre-procedure instructions when you book.
Sedation with our Consultant Anaesthetist is charged at £450 per hour, in addition to the cost of your dental treatment. We'll give you a full cost breakdown before you commit to anything.
Yes. You must arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you home and stay with you for the rest of the day. You will not be able to drive, use public transport alone, or make important decisions for 24 hours after sedation.
